Bunka (Multi-Purpose Knife)

The bunka is a Japanese multipurpose knife closely related to the santoku. It shares the santoku's tall blade and flat edge but finishes in an angled reverse-tanto, or k-tip. The sharp tip is great for fine work such as scoring, mincing and trimming, while the flat edge handles everyday push cuts and chopping.

Our bunka and related kiritsuke-style knives are forged in high-carbon White Steel #2 with a textured nashiji finish and handles of cocobolo or camphor wood. They are a good choice for home cooks who want a compact all-rounder with a bit more character.
